Harley alarms. They can be a bit of a pain if you don't know your way around them.
Transport mode. Switch on the ignition with the alarm off. Press and hold the alarm fob button until the indicators flash, the release the button. Turn off the ignition and immediately press and hold the alarm fob button until the lights flash, then let go. You can now move or work on the bike without the alarm going off. To exit transport mode just disarm in the usual way with the double press.
If you need to remove the battery, disarm the alarm, then pull the main big fuse. Then it won't shout at you as you disconnect or reconnect the battery.
All 2000 up bikes. These have sealed wheel bearings. Very good, except there isn't any lubrication to the wheel spindle (axle). They can seize up if left for a number of years; so it is a good idea to remove them and grease with copper based grease to prevent this.
1. Check the battery - tighten the terminals and grease them. If it isn't a sealed type then check the level every month. Keep it charged during the winter - use a Optimate or similar.
2. Check the tyre pressures and tread depth. Look at the sidewalls for cracks. Check for loose or broken spokes too.
3. Clean the bike very thoroughly - this makes it look pretty - but more importantly, you may spot other problems. Also a dirty bike will attract the damp... more rust!!
4. Do check the expiry date of your MoT!!!
5. Time for a service? Remember, you should have at least a 5000 every year and a 10000 every two years, regardless of mileage.
