The Green Page.

This page is just so that you can check up on me to see how "Green" the company is.

So here is what MMC does to try and be a bit environmental.

1.    All waste oil is recycled

2.    All old oil filters are recycled

3.    All waste paper is recycled

4.    All cardboard is recycled

5.    The cleaning fluid from the parts cleaner is recycled

6.    All old tyres are recycled

All the above cost money to be recycled. For instance about £1.50 a tyre, £1 for a sack of paper,

£80 for a drum of oil filters, etc. Plus the cost of duty of care license - around £100 a year.

So don't anyone suggest that we ain't green! Oh all lights are either low energy or led too.

All the old scrap goes to be recycled too.

The really good news is that I don't charge "environmental charges" on your invoice - ever noticed that?

Most places charge at least £2 for a tyre and around £8 for oil and filter disposal etc...  I will never do that, as I believe that what I pay for the disposal costs etc should come from the normal profit margin. If you were to take this to the natural conclusion there would be a list of charges on the bottom of your invoice for electricity, tool wear, paper for the invoice, water to flush the bog etc...

Now, let's have a look at this whole "green" thing.  Harleys are bit like Land Rovers and classic cars in general. We are very green on this by using older bikes and cars. If you believe all the crap that the environmentalists tell you and go and buy a Toyota Prius - please don't I have driven one and they are slow and thirsty - how can they be green with all the energy that is used to make them? And how are you going to dispose of the batteries after 10 years when they are shagged out? So we carry on with old cars that only use a bit of petrol or diesel and a few spare parts. Recycling at its best? I would like to think so. And so it is with our bikes - how many Harleys get scrapped to be replaced with a new one? They use less energy to make and a lot less to run. I run a Range Rover, because I like it and it is used for towing a trailer to recover your bikes and the odd car. It runs on lpg - a fuel so clean that it doesn't need a cat, not even at MoT time. Plus it is 7 years old so it has consumed all the energy needed to make it, and it has a life expectancy of at least another 5 years. Greener than a Toyota Primus? I reckon so if you take whole life energy use. All this green taxation is a pathetic means of raising money by the powers that be to fight needless wars and bail out banks run by idiots..... Oh I had better go and have a lay down before I really get going on this. So, be proud to ride your bike and old snotter of a car - you're being greener than the smug gits in their Primus....
